In order to receive a national visa for 6 months, the embassy wants to see proof that you are covered by travel health insurance during these first 6 months.

The proof of travel health insurance only needs to be presented when collecting the visa.

If there is no clear information on the website of the embassy, we recommend asking the officer during your appointment in the embassy:

• Which travel health insurance (from which provider) is accepted?

• The first day of validity of your visa and thus the first insurance day of your travel health insurance.

After your arrival in Berlin, you will apply for a private or compulsory German health insurance, as in Germany, health insurance is required for all employees. As soon as you get the confirmation, you may cancel the travel health insurance immediately.
