1. You are originally from Greece. How come you have moved to Germany?
I was born in Berlin, so I've always had a connection to the city (through family and friends), but the reason I booked a one-way flight ticket to Berlin was actually because I wanted to learn a third language and live aboard for a while, but one thing led to another and after 13 years I'm still here :)
2. Describe your area of responsibility at the company in two sentences.
I am part of the accounting team, which means that my colleagues and I are responsible for ensuring that all the company's financial matters run as smoothly as possible.
3. What do you think is the benefit of hiring a relocation agency?
From my own experience, when I moved to Berlin, it would have been very helpful if I had chosen a relocation agency to take care of all the bureaucratic matters and find a flat for me. That would have saved me a lot of time, money and nerves. In my first year in Berlin, I had to move three times to different temporary flats because I had no experience of the German housing situation.
Also, as a new mum, I can't imagine how difficult it is for families moving to Germany to have to deal with finding a nursery or school (is just as difficult as finding a flat) or even a pediatrician without knowing the language and at the same time having to deal with all the issues mentioned above.
4. Your favorite, most beautiful place in Germany for taking a break?
My favorite city in Germany is Hamburg and my favorite place in Berlin when I need a break is the Holzmarkt in Friedrichshain or the Grunewald.
5. Interesting fact about you?
I come from a region in Greece where it snows a lot more in winter than here in Berlin.
